For over a decade, Turner Drake and Partners Ltd. has been facilitating co-op positions for students from Atlantic Canadian universities. As members of the local community, we believe in investing in the long-term professional capacity of future generations. We exercise our standing professional development programs with our co-op students to aide their transition into the workforce.

Meet our Latest Talent
My name is Shea Vince; I am commencing my third year at Dalhousie University in the Bachelor of Commerce Co-op program, with a major in accounting and finance.
I am originally from Kingston, Ontario, where I’ve lived for my whole life before moving to Halifax to attend Dalhousie. Growing up I was introduced to the sport of field hockey and instantly took a keenness towards it, eventually transitioning into playing competitive field hockey and at the provincial level. I’ve since brought my love for sport with me to university, and thoroughly enjoy staying active and going to the gym.
Not knowing what career path I initially wanted to follow, I completed my first co-op experience with an accounting firm in Ontario. Although my experience undeniably provided me with many valuable skills, experiences, and a vaster network of connections, I wanted to try something new for my next co-op term.
I then decided for this fall co-op term; I would try something outside of the realm of accounting to diversify my skillset– and here I am now at Turner Drake & Partners Ltd. as a Real Estate Analyst. My first few weeks here have been a breath of fresh air, to say the least. My very first day I was introduced to the team and made to feel extremely welcomed. It was clear day one the support that is available to me, I am respected as an equal, and I will be treated as if I was a permanent team member.
My first few tasks at Turner Drake & Partners have been primarily focused on property tax work, and getting familiar with new processes. With a previous co-op experience in public accounting, I was familiar with the burden of property tax on property owners, but had no idea the work that goes on behind the scenes in terms of property assessment review and subsequently appealing said assessments.
With Turner Drake & Partners being based in Atlantic Canada, I feel connected to the work I’m doing and feel “close to home”. Starting this co-op placement, I was unsure of what I could get out of it in terms of development, or what I could contribute. However, as I approach my two-week mark of being here, I’m certain the skills I gain here will transfer into my future co-op terms, career, and life – and that I’ve discovered a new career path that I am excited to continue to explore.
