Mark joined Turner Drake in 2000 after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax. He was granted a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia in 2005, and graduated with their Bachelor of Business in Real Estate Degree in 2009. Mark gained accreditation with the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 2006 and was admitted to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2010. He successfully completed the Appraisal Institute (of America) examinations and was admitted to membership in 2016.
From 2002 onwards Mark did double duty working in the other Divisions while acting as Manager of our Lasercad® Space Measurement Division. He was appointed Vice President in 2006 whilst continuing to carry a full work load in our Property Tax Division. Under his guidance the Lasercad® Division expanded to provide space measurement services throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario and is the only such supplier in the region governed by a quality management system registered to the international ISO 9001 standard.
Mark’s experience is broad and deep, having worked in most of Turner Drake’s Divisions. He started his career in our Counselling Division providing consulting advice on expropriations, assisting clients resolve a wide range of real estate problems and conducting market surveys (currently undertaken by our Economic Intelligence Unit). His work in our Valuation Division covered the full spectrum of property types, from lighthouses to multi-use investment projects, throughout Atlantic Canada.
During his lengthy and successful tenure in our Property Tax Division, Mark has successfully conducted assessment appeals in Ontario and Atlantic Canada and appeared as an expert witness before the Nova Scotia Public Utility and Review Board, the Nova Scotia Assessment Appeal Court and the New Brunswick Assessment and Planning Appeal Board.
Mark was appointed President of Turner Drake & Partners Ltd. in September 2017.
